San Mateo resident Jenna Marinaro has become a vital part of the Menlo College women's basketball team, which takes a 13-3 record and a No. 24 NAIA ranking into Thursday's Cal Pac Conference opener at Simpson in Redding.
Marinaro, who played at Notre Dame High in Belmont, has started all 16 games so far this season. She scored 11 points in Menlo's lastest victory, a 73-67 decision over visiting UC Santa Cruz on Saturday night.
She averages 9.9 points a game for the Lady Oaks, fourth on the team, and has made 18 3-pointers.
Now in her senior year, Marinaro has made 66 3-pointers in her Menlo career. She has made 33 starts and played in 87 games for the Lady Oaks.
Menlo has compiled a 61-43 record during Marinaro's tenure at the school. The Lady Oaks are enjoying one of their best seasons in program history, setting a record for most wins (10) at the start of a season.
Menlo next plays at home on Thursday, Jan. 17, when Cal State Maritime visits for a 5:30 p.m.
Hillsborough resident Vanessa D'Amico, who attended St. Francis High, is a freshman at Menlo. She's played in all 16 games and made one start.
She's averaging 6.6 points a game and has made 22 3-pointers. Her next point will be her 100th of the season.
