Caminar San Mateo Officially Opens

For Caminar clients, as well as staff, the move saves time and transportation expenses in traveling to the various offices.

Caminar San Mateo much needed and anticipated consolidation of Caminar for Mental Health programs has been completed. All of our services and offices finally came together under one roof when Caminar San Mateo officially opened its beautiful, new facilities located at 2600 El Camino Real in San Mateo.

Longtime Board member, Eunice Kushman, a mental health activist and one of the most influential citizens in the history of mental health services in San Mateo County, cut the ribbon in the opening ceremony.

Our programs and offices were previously scattered throughout the county, but Caminar’s new home brings together a variety of services: the Medication Clinic; Bridges to Wellness (a program that brings medical and behavioral health together in a holistic approach to wellness); REACH (Recovery, Empowerment and Community Housing), a 24/7 case management program; FSP (Full Service Partnership intensive case management services for older adults); and New Ventures/WRAPP (Wellness Recovery Action Partnership Program), case management support for individuals who are successfully living in the community.

Other Caminar San Mateo programs, including Jobs Plus, the job training, placement, and support program, and Supported Housing are also headquartered in the new facility, along with central administrative offices.

For Caminar clients, as well as staff, the move saves time and transportation expenses in traveling to the various offices. The new location is more centrally located and is easily accessible to public transportation. San Mateo Region Executive Director Lori Kandels says, “Now all of our adult case management programs are under the same roof with the medication clinic. This improves communication and leads to better coordination of care for our clients.”

Just a short thought to get the word out quickly about anything in your neighborhood.
Share something with your neighbors. Write a new post... What's up? Make an announcement, speak your mind, or sell something

I see that I meant to type "...that connect us to the past," but I accidentally typedRead More "...and connect us to the past." I think my meaning came through, though. Yes, the world does not need another national chain retail store or restaurant, which is surely what they're planning to put in there.

Yes Bren, agree with you....good point.....really what it seems to come down to is money vs. theRead More good of the community and richness of traditions. And all despite the Master Plan for that site in San Mateo that seems to require an ice skating rink or similar recreational facility AT THAT SITE, and all despite the fact the Ice Chalet would like to continue operations there. The Developer has made it difficult to impossible for any ice rink to operate there (tricky it seems)....so they can get a cookie cutter retail outlet in ? .....very, very sad for the youth of the community.

I think the issue is much larger than whether children will experience stress. That ice rink is aRead More local institution, dating back at least to when Fashion Island was there. It's terrible for communities to lose so many landmarks and connect us to the past.

Dear Ari, Thank you for your service to our community. It's wonderful that you are already making aRead More difference.
