San Mateo Offers New Volunteer Opportunities

These volunteer opportunities are great for those looking to give back to the community.

Looking for a way to give back to give back to your community? The city of San Mateo has announced two new volunteer opportunities.

1. Call for Artists – Aug. 23 deadline             
In September, the Downtown San Mateo Association (DSMA) is bringing public art to the downtown area. The DSMA will install a “Meter Garden” sculpture of eight decommissioned coin-operated parking meters arranged in a sidewalk landscaping planter. Seven meters will be painted by local artists and one will be painted by children from the Police Athletic League (PALS). Passersby can insert coins. Application deadline is August 23 at 5pm. 2. Copyeditor/proofreader 

Volunteer to use your expertise in proof reading and copy editing to help the City Information Technology Department review policies and procedures documentation. Time commitment is 4 hrs/day, 1-2 times a week for a 3 month project assignment.
