Mountain Lion Possibly Seen in San Mateo

The creature was reported near the county Youth Services Center parking lot.

A possible mountain lion sighting was reported in San Mateo on Monday morning, county emergency officials said.

The carnivorous cat may have been seen in the vicinity of the County Youth Services Center's south parking lot near Tower Road in San Mateo.

Residents are advised to not approach mountain lions, and instead try to appear as large and noisy as possible.

The California Department of Fish and Game also warns to avoid jogging at dawn, dusk or at night when mountain lions are most active.
