Le Family: "Our Primary Concern Was, is and Will Always Be to Find Michelle."

Family of missing San Mateo nursing student reacts to the arrest of a Union City woman in connection to the murder of Michelle Le.

Michael Le turns 24 Thursday. Each year, his sister calls him to wish him "Happy Birthday" and tell him how much she loves him.

This year, that call won’t come.

“I just want to hear her voice so badly," he said. “The only thing that I will be wishing for is for her to come back home.”

San Mateo resident Michelle Le went missing on May 27 from a Kaiser Hospital. On Wednesday, Hayward police arrested a Union City woman in connection to the missing nursing student’s disappearance.

Family members solemnly bowed their heads as Hayward police announced the arrest of Giselle Diwag Esteban, 27, of Union City on Wednesday.

She was booked into Santa Rita Jail on no bail and is facing one count of murder. She is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Hayward Hall of Justice, according to online court records.

"If [Esteban] could feel our pain… this whole ordeal has caused so much turmoil in our family. It really has robbed us of our lives right now. She shouldn’t drag this on longer than it has to go,” Michael Le said.

And while Esteban’s arrest pushes the investigation of Michelle Le’s disappearance forward, police have still not found Michelle Le’s body and said the investigation is not complete until that happens.

The Le family said they are not giving up hope in bringing Michelle Le home.

“No one should have to deal with a loved one missing. I just want her home as soon as possible. Our whole family misses her dearly,” Michael Le said.

"We want to see her graduate from nursing school in four months, celebrate her birthday next month, in November for Thanksgiving and in December for Christmas, and all the Thanksgivings and Christmases after that,” said Krystine Dinh, Michelle Le’s cousin.

The Le family has remained vigilant and persistent in their efforts to locate Michelle Le since her disappearance more than three months ago.

in Michelle Le’s name have been held each month, marking her disappearance, along with numerous search parties and countless fundraisers.

Photos of her on fliers and billboards have been posted in numerous cities throughout the Bay Area and state.

Another search party is scheduled for next weekend, Michael Le said. Details of when and where the search will be conducted have yet to be released.

“Our primary concern was, is and will always be to find Michelle and bring her home with us. At this point, she is still missing and we will fight to bring her home every day until we have her with our family again,” Dinh said.
