CHP Plans DUI Checkpoint in San Mateo County Friday Night

The location will be announced two hours before the checkpoint begins.

The is conducting another DUI checkpoint on Friday, Sept. 2.

Because there tends to be more people out driving on the weekends and in the summer in general, there can be more people driving under the influence, said CHP Officer Art Montiel.

There’s an exit that responsible drivers can spot and take if they want to avoid the checkpoint. But drunk drivers, Montiel said, often don't see the alternate exit and proceed through the checkpoint.
