According to an article by the San Jose Mercury News, residents who live in the neighborhood surrounding Iris Court in San Mateo found a cat who had been paralyzed by a pellet gun shot last week.
Now, the upset neighbors are fighting back. They reported the cat shooting to San Mateo Police, and spent a good portion of their Sunday posting fliers around the neighborhood, warning people to protect their cats - and their children.
The cat underwent surgery at Nine Lives Foundation in Redwood City and is expected to survive, but Hope will likely never be able to walk again and will suffer from lifelong health complications, the article further stated.
San Mateo Police are reportedly investigating animal cruelty charges following the incident, though the article quotes a police spokesperson as saying they have no concrete suspects so far.
Sgt. David Norris of the San Mateo Police asks that the public continue to report any additional incidents or provide the police with any information you may have.
