The community came together to celebrate a new transportation option that will take cars off the roads.

gathered to celebrate the launch of commuter ferry service in South San Francisco Monday morning.

The service, which is years in the making, between the new Oyster Point Ferry Terminal and Alameda and Jack London Square in the East Bay.

Parking is free at the ferry terminal, and buses from Genentech and the Peninsula Congestion Relief Alliance will meet arriving ferries in South San Francisco. Fare is $7 for a one-way adult ticket, but rides this first week are free.

I think the issue is much larger than whether children will experience stress. That ice rink is aRead More local institution, dating back at least to when Fashion Island was there. It's terrible for communities to lose so many landmarks and connect us to the past.
