Samaritan House provides food and clothing, shelter, health care, worker resources and counseling for low-income SanMore Mateo County residents and their families from its offices on Pacific, just east of El Camino between 41st and 42nd avenues. Daily hot meals are provided onsite, and there is a grocery pantry. A Kids Closet offers free gently-used clothing for kids. Volunteers provide much of the needed support and funding is generously received from private and corporate donors. Volunteer opportunities are always available. Career Closet is located off highway 92 at the Foster City Boulevard exit, staying straight onto Chess Drive. CareerMore Closest is a small volunteer-based non-profit that was expanded to San Mateo in 2001. "Everyone at Career Closet is a volunteer who dedicates time and expertise to ensure that we can empower our clients to enter the working world and change their lives for the better." Career Closet is aimed at helping women who have gone through struggles and seeking to provide the tools, confidence, and clothing needed to overcome their struggles.

The Transfiguration Episcopal Church is a warm and welcoming family church. Focused on providing help to those in needMore in the community, every member volunteers on at least one program each year. The church offers three worship services: a quiet traditional Eucharist, a family service, and an inter-generational Eucharist.
