when will people realize that different breeds have different propensities for violence. in theRead More case of a pit bull - bred to kill - the jaw muscles alone set it aside from most other house pets. i've seen a display of skulls from different breeds and there was about 3" of muscle connection points on the pit bull skull vs a golden retriever with about 1". they are built to tear and shake and kill. there is no such thing as a safe, sweet pit-bull. unfortunately owners of large dogs have to behave like they have a loaded weapon. it's a numbers game. the chances of being mauled by a pit bull are hundreds of times higher than most dogs in suburbia. what a pity. so sorry to hear of this. sounds like a terrible mistake.

Before I even read the story, I KNEW it was going to be a pit bull. The family said "The dogRead More has never shown any aggression before".........typical with pits, they snap for no reason.

Pit Bulls properly raised have no more propensity to violence than other breeds. In this case,Read More while very tragic, it appears the children were unsupervised and were taunting the dog. News stories claim the children were trying to ride the dog and pulling ears and tail. Let's not condemn a breed based on this very unfortunate occurrence. The fact that the dog was owned by a SM Police officer and had never shown any similar behavior probably means the dog was provoked. This is a tragedy - both for the family and for the dog!
Thanks Dad!

Good points Sharon. As a mother of 5 daughters and now 2 grandchildren, latest to Rylee who justRead More spent 8 days in the Nicu, there is alot of cautions to take with your newborns. There are also these awesome monitors to buy at Walmart, Target, Babies are US that monitor not only noises from your newborn but movement. So if your baby does not have respirations for 20 seconds a alarm goes off. My daughter got this for Rylee who is coming home today we HOPE!! as a precaution as she did have a few episodes of forgetting to catch her next breath. Even though she caught herself we are going to stay safe with the monitor. She was born 5 weeks early and just had this little glitch that has not happened again :) Every parent can afford one of these monitors that range in price from 55 to 117 dollars depending on how many out of room alert boxes you want. As you also say Sharon, so many babies are left to fall down in between couch cushions, rocking chairs, and cribs full of "stuff". Its just not needed, just the nice clean sheets in the crib or bassinet.

Brenda/Sharon:Thanks for honoring Dads/Fathers/Pops. You've once again proven that Dad's have noRead More meaning to you other than the sperm donor you apparently used them fore Next time, how about you talk about how important that Dad is, instead of sluffing him off without even a mention I'll bet by your answers you're either single moms or parents who run over the guy- hope you don't nag as well

Doris - thank you for remembering us dads. As a proud father, I appreciate it. Sharon and Brenda;Read More shame on you! This article was to say thanks to dads and had NOTHING to do with infant placement or baby monitors. I agree with Don; next time, stick to the topic!

Let's ask the key question: Are both the NSA and CIA violating the strict laws which limit theirRead More spying activities to OUTSIDE the US... except with a specific and limited order from the national security court. These limits were established to allow NSA and CIA to protect America from terrorism while also protecting our rights to privacy, unlawful search and seizure, free speech and assembly, and other constitutional freedoms. If the NSA and/or CIA has gone over the line and violated these laws, Mr. Snowden is a legitimate whistleblower and is properly protected from harm and prosecution. It is far too easy for systems as capable as those used by US spying agencies to be misused with great harm to Americans and our freedoms. What if a police force wants to use the NSA domestic monitoring systems to find child porno rings - is it ok for US cops to troll through all phone calls and e-mails, scanning for sexual words? Is it ok for the IRS to use NSA domestic monitoring to search for US citizens' income and spending? Don't delude yourself that the sheer mass of data will protect you (the needle in the haystack defense). Artificial Intelligence and Predictive Modelling software are NOW reporting what you are likely to buy, what you are likely to contribute to political candidates and causes, and exactly how a bill collector can get you to pay and how much. Snowden has raised real issues for Americans. It's important that we check on the validity of his charges and the legality of NSA and CIA domestic monitoring as they are actually practiced today. Whoever is breaking the law should be identified, charged and punished.

Democratic Rep. Loretta Sanchez said after Congress on Wednesday was given a classified briefing byRead More NSA officials on the agency’s previously secret surveillance activities: “What we learned in there is significantly more than what is out in the media today. . . . I can’t speak to what we learned in there, and I don’t know if there are other leaks, if there’s more information somewhere, if somebody else is going to step up, but I will tell you that I believe it’s the tip of the iceberg . . . . I think it’s just broader than most people even realize, and I think that’s, in one way, what astounded most of us, too.”
