4 agencies, 8 hours and 1 arrest. Money well spent.

Redwood City recently had about a dozen or so officers work a 7-hour checkpoint (which probablyRead More makes a full shift's worth of overtime with before and after set-up, clean-up). The result? 1,076 drivers screened and 1 (one!) DUI. Wow! 1/1076 = less than one tenth of one percent ... or < 0.001.

How ridiculous. That's like arresting Amtrak for all of the times the cops pick up peopleRead More transporting marijuana in big suitcases in their baggage cars (it happens frequently---you'd be surprised). Amtrak has nothing to do with that----they're just transporting baggage. Same thing here---FedEx is just transporting a package; they have no clue what its contents are.

Meanwhile the national news networks seemed to miss the story when Google got caught in a similarRead More scheme, actually with more evidence of complicity. Not easy to find the story but here are two sources: http://www.wired.com/2013/05/google-pharma-whitaker-sting/all/ http://www.tomsguide.com/us/Larry-Page-Canadian-Peter-Neronha-online-pharmacies-Justice-Department,news-12323.html The story was mentioned briefly on the Leo LaPorte show and in more depth by John Batchelor (who noted that Clinton DOJ henchwoman Jamie Gorelick was brought in to negotiate the half-billion $ settlement; Gorelick now sits on the Google board.

Genius. since he is in banking I suppose the US taxpayers will have to bail him out. Not quite TARPRead More scale so I guess the proper bailout would be sending him into the private screening room with a bunch of strippers.

Fact: People are wrongfully convicted. Even 1 innocent person wrongfully executed is too much, theRead More fact that you are ok with that says a lot about how little you actually have thought about this. How many bad guys do we need to kill to make it ok to execute 1 innocent man? 100 to 1? 20 to 1? 1 to 1? If you think that death is the only effective deterrent to crime that matters then are also very confused. Do you really think that it is pointless to put anyone in prison, probation, or fine them, since death is the only deterrent that matters? I encourage you to actually think about your position and how you arrived at that. Killing out of emotion (revenge) in no way makes murder ok. Killing in revenge is the ultimate sign of weakness. It takes strength to hold your rage and remain a civil thinking person. I couldn't care less about revenge and consequences. The criminal justice system is about the safety of our citizens, not vengeance. Locking someone up for life is enough because it removes a killer from his potential victims. It also costs the tax payers less money than killing them. Being in favor of a policy of executing people is also incompatible with belief in Christ, and when 70% of this nation claims to be Christian it should give you a good idea how many are full of shit that this is even a debate. Bottom line: No, your immature and selfish desire to kill people does not make it ok. It does not make us safer. It solves nothing. It wastes more tax dollars, and we have and will again execute innocent people because juries and judges are composed of people, and people are fallible. If you are ok with all that you should be locked away from the rest of society where you can do no harm. Sorry for the rant, long day and I keep seeing this subject brought up everywhere I look due to the court's decision. Thank you all for letting me get this out of my system =)

RCPD's last DUI checkpoint screened 1,076 drivers over 7 hours (average of 5 drivers every 2Read More minutes) ... and yielded only 1 arrest. Not bad for an entire shift's worth of overtime for what must have been around a dozen or so of RWC's finest. So, so busy indeed!

In the 70's I almost accidentally stepped in front of a train on Broadway in RWC. Crossing guardRead More down, southbound train on east track; after it passed I walked across the track and there was a northbound train on the west track which I did not see/hear until it was almost too late.
