Volunteers Remove 5,000 Pounds of Trash from San Mateo Waterways

Despite the rainy weather, 957 volunteers showed up at Ryder Park and the two adjacent lagoon locations to help clean up trash.

Volunteers removed 600 pounds of recycle and 4,682 pounds of garbage from San Mateo waterways Saturday, Sept. 21 as part of the city's annual Bayfront Cleanup event.

Despite the rainy weather, 957 volunteers showed up at Ryder Park and the two adjacent lagoon locations to help clean up trash.

DID YOU KNOW: San Mateo’s Bayfront Cleanup event was the most well attended, single-location event in all of California; with over 850 individual cleanup sites from 53 California counties reported through the Annual California Coastal Cleanup Day.
