Dinner, caroling for Neighborhood Watch community participants.

The San Mateo Police Department treated a record number of Neighborhood Watch community volunteers to a holiday dinner and caroling from the North Shoreview Montessori School’s Girl Scouts at the Senior Center last week.

Police Chief Susan Manheimer spoke about plans to more closely integrate the Neighborhood Watch program with the fire department's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) to better prepare our neighborhoods for any types of emergencies or hazards.

San Mateo’s Neighborhood Watch spans more than 350 residential blocks citywide.

Residents interested in Neighborhood Watch or citywide volunteerism are asked to call either Officer John Rink Sr. at 650-522-7744, or Sergeant Dave Norris at (650)522-7626.

More information is available on the website.

Citywide volunteerism coordinator Donna Divodi can be reached at ddivodi@cityofsanmateo.org or by phone at (650) 522-7277.
