San Mateo High Schools Represented on Menlo College Men's Soccer Team

Serra High grads Alexander Kunkel and Kevin Becker, Hillsdale grad Calvyn Araujo and San Mateo grad Ryan Onizuka will all be playing men's soccer at Menlo College in Atherton this year.

The Oaks went 8-0 in the Cal Pac Conference last year and 13-4-3 overall. Kunkel and Becker are juniors, Araujo is a sophomore and Onizuka is a freshman.

All four are midfielders. Becker transferred in from UC Riverside, while the other three began their careers at Menlo.

Kunkel has been on two consecutive unbeaten conference teams. The Oaks reached their first ever NAIA postseason tournament two years ago.

Eric Bucchere is in his first year as coach at Menlo. He spent the previous five years as the top assistant at UC San Diego.

Menlo opens its season on Wednesday at home against De Anza College at 3 p.m.
