VIDEO: From Padre to Patriot, Tom Brady’s High School Days Remembered

Tom Brady may be one of the biggest names in football today, but back in 1995 he was just a talented teenage quarterback known as Tommy at Serra High School in San Mateo.

Former Padres teammate and high school friend John Kirby, who’s now the assistant athletic director at Serra, remembers Brady as a humble and kind person whose fame hasn’t changed him one bit.

What a fantastic video! I am sure Tom Brady's success is a great source of pride for all of the Serra family and San Mateo, CA. I hope some day my sons can attend Serra. What a great school! Having grown up back East in Greenwich, CT we had our own local success story as well, named Steve Young. Yes, no one at Greenwich High School in the early 80's would have predicted Steve Young to go on to do such great things as a 49er. Steve was always humble, a gifted student in the classroom, and recruited by many Ivy League schools. He chose to go to BYU due to his family's background and the rest is history. His Father LeGrande "Grit" Young played football at BYU as well. Being a strict Mormon, he woke up at 5 am to attend church before school and drank milk at the high school parties. I kid you not! Very hard working, nice guy...who captained the football, basketball and baseball teams at GHS.
