San Mateo's Year-Round Schools Begin Classes This Week

Seven schools in San Mateo welcomed students for start of 2011-2012 school year.

The first day of August was the first day of school for students who attend year-round schools in the San Mateo-Foster City School District.

Monday marked the return to class for more than 3,300 students who attend the seven year-round San Mateo-Foster City School District schools in San Mateo.

, , , , , , and all welcomed students for the 2011-2012 school year.

Parents of these year-round school students will have an opportunity to find out more about their children’s schools as well as meet teachers and school administrators when schools host back to
school nights this month.

Fiesta Gardens International School will be the first year round school in the city to host parents and guardians when it holds its back to school night on Thursday.

Abbott Middle School’s back to school night is on Aug. 9.

Beresford Elementary and George Hall Elementary will hold their back to school nights on Aug. 10. The Bayside S.T.E.M. Academy will hold its back to school night on Aug. 11.

Parkside Elementary will hold a back to school night on Aug. 10 for kindergarten and K/1 Montessori while grades 1-5 will have back to school night on Aug. 11.

College Park will have back to school night for grades 3-5 on Aug. 16 and for grades K-2 on Aug. 18.

Amber Farinha, Coordinator of Community Services for the San Mateo-Foster City School District said the 20 school district expects to have a total enrollment of slightly more than 11,000 students when the remaining 12 schools head back to school on Aug. 31.

San Mateo Union High School District schools will have their first day of school on Tuesday, Aug. 16.

Yes, the world does not need another national chain retail store or restaurant, which is surely what they're planning to put in there.

Yes Bren, agree with you....good point.....really what it seems to come down to is money vs. theRead More good of the community and richness of traditions. And all despite the Master Plan for that site in San Mateo that seems to require an ice skating rink or similar recreational facility AT THAT SITE, and all despite the fact the Ice Chalet would like to continue operations there. The Developer has made it difficult to impossible for any ice rink to operate there (tricky it seems)....so they can get a cookie cutter retail outlet in ? .....very, very sad for the youth of the community.
