San Mateo Schools Receive Grants from Wells Fargo

Wells Fargo is donating $1 million in funding to schools throughout the Bay Area.

Wells Fargo on Wednesday donated $1,000 checks to schools and educational services in the Bay Area, including 10 in San Mateo.

The checks were presented at a breakfast event Wednesday by Tracy Curtis, senior vice president and president for Wells Fargo’s San Francisco market; and Hydra Mendoza, president of the San Francisco Unified School District Board of Education, according to a news release from Wells Fargo.

The schools in San Mateo to receive a $1,000 grant include Bayside Middle School, Sunnybrae Elementary, Aragon High School, Baywood Elementary, Laurel Elementary, Abbott Middle School, Hillsdale High School, San Mateo County Special Education, Highlands Elementary, and the San Mateo Adult School.

Including the $1 million dollars, Wells Fargo has donated more than $13.3 million to schools and nonprofit organizations for educational purposes in an effort to continue its commitment to local education.

“In addition to the countless hours that our team members spend volunteering in local schools, we are glad to provide funding directly to school principals throughout our region,” Mike Billeci, executive vice president and president of Wells Fargo’s San Francisco Bay region, said in a statement.

“Whether they need laptops, chalkboards, rulers or globes, teachers understand their needs best and can direct resources to their schools’ priorities,” he said.
