High School District to Discuss Replacing Dave Pine

Here are some highlights from the agenda of tonight's school board meeting.

The San Mateo Union High School District is meeting tonight at 7 p.m. in the Aragon High School Library, 900 Alameda De Las Pulgas, San Mateo. Here are some highlights from the agenda:

  • Consideration of a process for filling the board seat vacated by Dave Pine, whose to the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors takes effect on May 24.
  • Approval of contract with School Loop’s “On Track” program, which seeks to address the general problems of school reform implementation.
  • An overview of the district’s “Program Improvement” plans for the upcoming school year will be presented.
  • On the consent agenda, an approval of updated courses of study in English and other languages, as well as signing off on the “candidates for graduation, May/June 2011” from Aragon, Burlingame, Capuchino, Hillsdale, Mills, Peninsula and San Mateo high schools, as well as San Mateo Middle College High School.
  • Report on a field trip by the Mills High School Trivia Team to the National High School Championship - National Academic Quiz Tournament in Atlanta, Georgia.
  • A denial of claim against the district by Julie Habeeb, a Capuchino High School teacher, who filed a claim on April 19, 2011 for $289.29.
