Silk Shading
Using kits designed by the instructor, a graduate of the Royal School of Needlework at Hampton Court, students create individual pieces using a different technique in each workshop. These classes require no experience but can also be good for an accomplished embroiderer to brush up on techniques.
In this one-day class a small flower will be stitched in stranded cotton to create the effect of silk shading. One strand of cotton is used in a fine needle to shade through different tones of color in long and short stitches to produce a natural image of a flower. There will be two flowers to choose from.
