CSM Baseball Moves Closer to First Place
Lady Bulldogs can clinch outright conference title with a win on Tuesday.
Brandon DeFazio hit a triple, two doubles and drove in three runs to help College of San Mateo beat visiting City College of San Francisco, 7-1, in a Coast Golden Gate Conference baseball game on Saturday.
The Bulldogs (12-5, 18-13) moved within a half-game of conference leader Chabot, whom they host on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. CSM travels to West Valley on Tuesday.
Andrew Herrera (5-0) did not allow an earned run in seven innings of work. He walked one and struck out three.

DeFazio and Jarret Costa each drove in runs in the first, giving CSM the early advantage.
After the Rams scored an unearned run in the second, DeFazio tripled home two more runs to put CSM ahead, 4-1, after two innings.
Dane Vande Guchte, Half Moon Bay High grad Gavin Long and Kellen Richards also drove in runs for the Bulldogs, who have won seven of their last eight games.
Track and Field
College of San Mateo hosts the NorCal Multi's on Tuesday and Wednesday, beginning at 10 a.m. each day, and then travels to the Las Positas Meet on Thursday.
The Coast Conference trials and finals are slated for April 23 and 26 respectively, at Chabot College in Hayward.
CSM hosts the state championships in May.
Swimming
College of San Mateo heads to the Coast Conference championships beginning Thursday at West Valley College in Saratoga.
The conference meet continues through Sunday.
Softball
College of San Mateo (12-3, 33-4) can clinch the Coast Conference North Division title Tuesday when it travels to second-place De Anza for a 3 p.m. contest.
The Lady Bulldogs have two remaining home games in the regular season: Thursday against Ohlone at 3 p.m. and a week from Tuesday against City College of San Francisco, also at 3 p.m.
CSM is currently shares the top spot of the CCCFPCA Top 25, with Riverside City College. The Lady Bulldogs are the unanimous choice as the No. 1 team in the Northern California poll.
In related news, CSM outfielder Mikayla Conlin earned first team all-state academic honors. First and second team honors go to the players with the two highest GPAs at their respective positions.
