What's Open and Closed in San Mateo on MLK Day
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is a federal holiday.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day is considered a federal holiday. While not everyone has the day off work, many local business are closed today in honor of the slain civil rights leader.
The following are CLOSED today:
- Schools in the
- Schools in the
- San Mateo public libraries [Main Library, Hillsdale Library and Marina Library]
- San Mateo City Hall and respective offices
- San Mateo post offices
- Banks

Transportation:
- Caltrain will run on regular schedule, in addition to the Annual Freedom Train to commerate MLK Day
- BART will run on a Saturday schedule
- SamTrans will run on a regular, non-school day schedule
