San Mateo Welcomes New Economic Development Manager

Marcus Clarke is returning to San Mateo after spending several years working in Detroit.

The city of San Mateo is welcoming home its new economic development manager, who is returning to the Peninsula after a few years in Detroit.

Marcus Clarke previously served in San Mateo's Economic Development Department as the former Business Liaison and Economic Development Specialist from 2007 to 2011.

He left San Mateo in 2011 to further expand his economic development skill base as an esteemed Detroit Revitalization Fellow, serving as a Business Development Manager for the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation.  

On Friday, June 28, the San Mateo Area Chamber of Commerce will host Good Morning San Mateo where residents will have the opportunity to meet Clarke.

Clarke will share information about his background, lessons learned in Detroit and how they relate to where San Mateo is today as well as ideas he has for San Mateo’s economic development initiatives and working with the business community. 

Good Morning San Mateo takes place from 7:45 to 9:00 a.m. at the Poplar Creek Grill located on Coyote Point Road. The event will also feature a panel discussion of recent Real Estate trends and transactions presented by local Real Estate brokers Michael Berube, Chris Eckert and Clarke Funkhouser.

The cost to attend is $30. A continental breakfast will be served.  Tickets may be purchased through the San Mateo Area Chamber of Commerce.
