A new U.S. Census Bureau map of migration patterns between counties shows where San Mateo County residents moved to and from between 2006 and 2010.

Are any of your new San Mateo neighbors from a different California county or from a different state or country? Where did your old neighbors move?

Between 2006 and 2010, San Mateo County grabbed 26 residents from Lewis and Clark County, Montana, and lost 19 residents to Hancock County, Maine, and lost another 61 residents to Washington County, Arkansas.

That's just a sliver of the migration patterns to and from San Mateo County between 2006 and 2010, according to a U.S. Census Bureau interactive map that went live last month, emphasizing just how far flung movements are between San Mateo County and the rest of the country.
