San Mateo Gears Up for Pedestrian, Bicycle Counts

The counts will take place in September at 20 locations throughout the city.

The city of San Mateo is gearing up for its 2012 bicycle and pedestrian counts in September, and residents are being asked to volunteer.

Last year, volunteers partnered with city staff to document walking and bicycle activity within the city, which helps city officials understand how and where to make improvements for the the convenience, comfort, and safety pedestrians and cyclists in San Mateo.

Recently, San Mateo Patch asked readers to document where they believe in San Mateo are, and the interactive map generated a number of responses.
