San Mateo County Disabilities Awareness Fair

The San Mateo County Commission on Disabilities will host a Disabilities Awareness Fair to honor people with disabilities in our county. The event is free, open to the public, and will feature a wheelchair obstacle course, service dog demonstrations, disabilities sports, an accessible bus tour, emergency preparedness information, voter registration and resource tables for 50 agencies serving people with disabilities in San Mateo County. Visitors can also purchase a barbecue lunch, prepared by the Foster City Lions Club.

There are 140,000 San Mateo County residents living with disabilities; and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 has expanded opportunities for these individuals and greatly contributed to their quality of life by reducing barriers and changing perceptions over the past 20 years.
