Caltrain Construction and Maintenance: Nov. 3 to Nov. 9

Construction

San Bruno Grade Separation Project

Day work, which includes digging with a backhoe and mini-excavator, will be done from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Crews will excavate, install utility infrastructure, place concrete panels using a crane, and pour concrete. Crews will use medium and heavy duty diesel vehicles to transport dirt and concrete.

Night work will occur from Sunday, Nov. 4, through Friday, Nov. 9, between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. Crews will excavate, pour concrete and use a crane to place concrete panels.

The $147 million project will elevate the Caltrain tracks above three existing at-grade street crossings at San Bruno, San Mateo and Angus Avenues.  A new elevated Caltrain station between San Bruno and San Mateo Avenues will replace the station at Sylvan Avenue. Work on this project will not disrupt Caltrain service.

Maintenance

Caltrain will perform routine maintenance at several locations next week. To avoid delays to passengers, the work will take place Saturday through Friday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. There will be some construction noise but crews will work as quietly as possible. This work will not disrupt Caltrain service. For more information about this type of work, click here.

San Francisco to San Jose

Saturday, Nov. 3, through Friday, Nov. 9, crews will power wash and perform janitorial work at Caltrain stations between the San Francisco and Tamien stations.

San Francisco to San Jose

Thursday, Nov. 8, and Friday, Nov. 9, crews will run a test train between San Francisco and San Jose stations in order to test communications equipment.

Bayshore to San Bruno

Sunday, Nov. 4, through Thursday, Nov. 8, crews will operate medium duty on-track machinery to remove and replace ties between the Bayshore and San Bruno stations.

Bayshore to San Mateo

Sunday, Nov. 4, through Thursday, Nov. 8, crews will weld and grind tracks between the Bayshore and Hayward Park stations.

Menlo Park to Sunnyvale

Sunday, Nov. 4, through Thursday, Nov. 8, crews will operate heavy duty on-track machinery to grind and align tracks between the Menlo Park and Sunnyvale stations.

Palo Alto

Monday, Nov. 5, through Friday, Nov. 9, crews will perform maintenance work at the University Avenue station underpass.

San Jose

Thursday, Nov.8, and Friday, Nov. 9, crews will work on utilities at the San Jose Diridon station.
