Caltrain Construction and Maintenance: Dec. 29, 2012, to Jan. 4, 2013

The latest happening with Caltrain.

Construction

San Bruno Grade Separation Project

Day work will be done from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Crews will install utility infrastructure, place concrete panels using a crane, and pour concrete. Crews may use medium and heavy duty diesel vehicles to transport dirt and concrete.

Night work will occur from Sunday, Dec.30, through Friday, Jan. 4, between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. Crews will pour concrete and use a crane to place concrete panels.

The $147 million project will elevate the Caltrain tracks above three existing at-grade street crossings at San Bruno, San Mateo and Angus avenues.  A new elevated Caltrain station between San Bruno and San Mateo avenues will replace the station at Sylvan Avenue. Work on this project will not disrupt Caltrain service.

Maintenance

Caltrain will perform routine maintenance at several locations next week. To avoid delays to passengers, the work will take place Saturday through Friday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. There will be some construction noise but crews will work as quietly as possible. This work will not disrupt Caltrain service. For more information about this type of work, click here. 

San Francisco to San Jose

Saturday, Dec. 29, through Friday, Jan. 4, crews will power wash and perform janitorial work at Caltrain stations between the San Francisco and Tamien stations.

Millbrae to San Mateo

Sunday, Dec. 30, Monday, Dec. 31, Wednesday, Jan. 2, and Thursday, Jan. 3, crews will operate medium duty on-track machinery to remove and replace rail ties between the Millbrae and Hayward Park stations.

San Jose

Monday, Dec. 31, Wednesday, Dec. 2, and Thursday, Dec. 3, crews will weld and grind tracks between the San Jose Diridon and Tamien stations.
