Woman Assaulted in Home-Invasion Robbery

Police are still searching for three men who broke into the elderly victim's home on Portola Drive, injured her and stole jewelry.

A San Mateo woman in her 80s was assaulted and burglarized by three men in her Portola Drive home on Tuesday, police said.

According to San Mateo police, the men knocked on the woman’s front door on the 400 block of Portola Drive at about 1:15 p.m. Tuesday. When they heard no answer, they snuck around the back and forced open a rear sliding door.

The woman confronted the burglars, who then forced her down and physically assaulted her while robbing the home, police said. According to a police statement, the woman suffered a minor injury.

“The suspects stole several pieces of jewelry from the residence, and fled the scene in a light-green or similarly colored SUV,” police said. The men remain at large.

Police are looking for three Hispanic men. One is described as in his 30s, about 5-foot-10 with a medium build and wearing a yellow hardhat. Another is described as in his late 20s to early 30s, about 5-foot-9 with a thin build and a neatly trimmed goatee. The last suspect was the driver of the SUV.
