Truck Fire Snarls Traffic on Hwy 101

The incident occurred Wednesday morning in Menlo Park.

A truck fire on Willow Road in Menlo Park slowed the morning commute for nearly an hour Wednesday morning, a fire captain said.

Firefighters responded to a report of a burning truck on Willow Road off of state Highway 84 at about 8:30 a.m., Menlo Park fire Capt. Steve Balestrieri said.

Arriving units found the cab and cargo area of a towel delivery truck engulfed in flames, Balestrieri said.

The truck driver told firefighters that he had noticed smoke filling the passenger side of the vehicle as he was heading west on the Dumbarton Bridge, and that when he pulled over on Willow Road, the truck burst into flames, Balestrieri said.

The fire was controlled quickly and no one was injured.
