Teen Shot in Back in Daly City

The shooting occurred during an alleged drug deal.

A man who shot a teenager in the back during a drug deal in Daly City has been charged with attempted murder and several other felonies, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office.

Lonnie Eldrige Lewis, 19, allegedly contacted a 17-year-old boy to buy marijuana Feb. 26, Chief Deputy District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.

The two men got into the victim's vehicle that was parked in the Daly City BART parking lot, with Lewis sitting behind the victim in back seat, Guidotti said.

Lewis allegedly pulled out a gun and told the boy to hand over the drugs, according to prosecutors.

Lewis shot him in the back through the seat, stole the marijuana and fled, Guidotti said. He was arrested later that day with a .32-caliber gun in his backpack.

In addition to attempted murder, Lewis has been charged with robbery, assault, premeditation, and four separate firearm offenses.

He is scheduled to enter a plea Friday.
