A message from the Foster City Police Department:

It has been 20 years since Foster City has experienced a traffic collision of similar significance. This tragic incident punctuates the need for pedestrians to always exercise due caution when crossing the street. Pedestrians are reminded to only cross at corners or in designated crosswalks while also adhering to traffic control devices.

It is always a good idea for pedestrians to try and make eye contact with a driver before crossing in front of them. For drivers, always be aware of pedestrians in and around roadways and be prepared to yield for them.
