San Mateo Robber Fails to Appear in Court

A bench warrant has been issued for a man accused of trying to commit three robberies within four days in San Mateo.

A bench warrant has been issued for a 19-year-old Sacramento man accused of trying to commit three robberies earlier this month in San Mateo, after he failed to show up at his court appearance Friday.

Delaudea Deshaun Else is charged in San Mateo County Superior Court with committing two robberies and a third attempted robbery within a four-day period beginning Dec. 5, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office.

In each case, prosecutors say Else used a handgun. The victims were two check cashing stores, and a Best Collateral.

Else allegedly obtained money at a Check-N-Go cashing store, but a victim at California Check Cashing was behind the bullet resistant glass and hit the alarm button, according to prosecutors.

As the alarm sounded, Else fled, and subsequently robbed a victim of a laptop and cash at the Best Collateral, prosecutors said.

Through a careful investigation, San Mateo and Belmont police found a brown minivan that had been spotted in a surveillance video.

San Mateo police officers waited until Else entered the van, then pulled him over.

Inside the van, they allegedly found a semi-automatic handgun with extra clips, a stolen laptop and $1,200 in cash.

Else was due to appear in court Frida for his preliminary hearing on a time not waived basis, but did not show up. He had been out of custory on $150,000 bail bond, which he posted Dec. 14.

The court forfeited Else's bail bond, and issued a bench warrant for Else's arrest on no-bail status.
