San Mateo Police to Hold DUI Checkpoint

The checkpoint will take place from 6 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday.

The San Mateo Police Department will conduct a DUI checkpoint Friday night and early Saturday morning in an effort to curb drunken driving.

San Mateo officers will collaborate with other San Mateo County law enforcement agencies to conduct the checkpoint on Fourth Avenue east of S. Grant Street from 6 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday, according to the Police Department.

The checkpoint will be a part of San Mateo County's "Avoid the 23" DUI enforcement activities, in conjunction with other special DUI enforcement patrols through Sept. 3.

Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

I think the issue is much larger than whether children will experience stress. That ice rink is aRead More local institution, dating back at least to when Fashion Island was there. It's terrible for communities to lose so many landmarks and connect us to the past.
