The San Mateo Police Department is investigating a string of commercial burglaries that all occurred on the same night last week and within a block and a half radius.
Six burglaries were committed in the area of 25th Avenue and El Camino Real the night of Sept. 11, San Mateo Police Sgt. Dave Norris said.
Three of the burglaries were in the 100 block of W. 25th Avenue, two in the unit block of W. 25th, and one in the 2500 block of El Camino Real, just around the corner.
In three of the incidents entry was clearly attempted, but no items taken. With similar methods of rear entry and targeting of cash and portable items, detectives believe a single suspect or suspect group may be responsible.
SMPD Detectives are sharing information with other agencies, working with its Patrol Officers and Crime Reduction Unit, and incorporating a variety of patrol and investigative strategies to address this recent increase in activity in the area.
SMPD was able to obtain surveillance footage of one of the suspected burglars. Preliminary suspect description is a white or Asian male in his early 20's.
