San Mateo Police Arrest Dine-N-Dashers

The suspects were arrested Saturday night.

An 18-year-old woman and 26-year-old man were arrested Saturday after allegedly trying to leave an Outback Steakhouse in San Mateo without paying the bill.

Officers were sent to the Outback restaurant at 66 31st Ave. at about 10:15 p.m., where they were told the suspects had fled without paying, and that one of the suspects tried to assault an employee as well, San Mateo police Sgt. Dave Norris said.

The suspects fled in a vehicle but a witness had taken a photo of the vehicle as it left the area, according to Norris.

Officers also discovered a jacket, some paperwork and a cell phone left behind in the restaurant, which the officers used to track down the suspects at a home in the 1900 block of El Camino Real in San Mateo, Norris said.

The officers also found the suspect vehicle, a silver Honda, at the home and determined it had been stolen out of San Francisco, according to Norris.
