Nurse Accused of Embezzling from San Mateo Medical Center

The case is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in February.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled in February for a nurse accused of submitting fake time cards and embezzling thousands of dollars from the San Mateo Medical Center, prosecutors said Thursday.

Regina Nyanjia Lyimo, 36, worked as an extra help relief nurse at the San Mateo Medical Center for 10 months, between Nov. 16, 2009, and Sept. 19, 2010, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office.

During that time, she allegedly submitted fraudulent time cards for 265 hours of standard time in which she did not work, stealing $14,573.65 from the agency, prosecutors said.
