A preliminary hearing has been scheduled in February for a nurse accused of submitting fake time cards and embezzling thousands of dollars from the San Mateo Medical Center, prosecutors said Thursday.
Regina Nyanjia Lyimo, 36, worked as an extra help relief nurse at the San Mateo Medical Center for 10 months, between Nov. 16, 2009, and Sept. 19, 2010, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office.
During that time, she allegedly submitted fraudulent time cards for 265 hours of standard time in which she did not work, stealing $14,573.65 from the agency, prosecutors said.
Lyimo's superior court review took place in San Mateo County Superior Court on Wednesday, though the defense requested an additional superior court review which a judge set for Jan. 30.
Lyimo's case remains set for a preliminary hearing on Feb. 6 at 9 a.m.
It's the second setting of a preliminary hearing since the initial felony arraignment on Sept. 11, 2012.
Lyimo remains out of custody on $50,000 bail bond.
