Man Arrested May Have Committed 20 San Mateo County Burglaries

Belmont, San Mateo and Burlingame police departments link the suspect to several recent commercial burglaries.

A man believed to be responsible for more than 20 burglaries around San Mateo County was arrested at a motel in San Carlos on Thursday, sheriff's officials said.

Pablo Vega, 29, was arrested at about 1 p.m. Thursday in the 1500 block of El Camino Real after investigators from the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office and Belmont, San Mateo and Burlingame police departments linked him to several recent commercial burglaries.

At the time of his arrest, Vega was found to be in possession of property stolen in burglaries in San Carlos from the past week, sheriff's officials said.

Investigators are trying to determine exactly how many cases may have involved Vega.

He was booked into custody on suspicion of commercial burglary and possession of stolen property, according to the sheriff's office.
