Former Water Polo Coach Pleads Guilty to Charges of Sexual Relationship with Students

The high school coach plead guilty to engaging in sexual activity and exchanging lewd cellphone images with a student.

By Bay City News

A former water polo coach at a San Mateo high school accused of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student pleaded guilty to two felony counts today, prosecutors said.

Joshua Tatro, 25, of El Granada pleaded guilty to one county of sexual penetration of a minor and one count of sending pornographic material with the intent to seduce a minor, San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.

Tatro was arrested June 1 after police learned that a student at Aragon High School told school officials he had touched her inappropriately.

Tatro had previously pleaded not guilty to charges of sexual assault and lewd acts with a minor, according to district attorney's office.

Prosecutors accused him of engaging in sexual activity and exchanging lewd cellphone images with the student and the case was scheduled to go to trial on Monday, Wagstaffe said.

However, Tatro's guilty plea today means that he will face a sentence of three years and eight months when he is sentenced on March 4, Wagstaffe said.

I see that I meant to type "...that connect us to the past," but I accidentally typedRead More "...and connect us to the past." I think my meaning came through, though. Yes, the world does not need another national chain retail store or restaurant, which is surely what they're planning to put in there.

Yes Bren, agree with you....good point.....really what it seems to come down to is money vs. theRead More good of the community and richness of traditions. And all despite the Master Plan for that site in San Mateo that seems to require an ice skating rink or similar recreational facility AT THAT SITE, and all despite the fact the Ice Chalet would like to continue operations there. The Developer has made it difficult to impossible for any ice rink to operate there (tricky it seems)....so they can get a cookie cutter retail outlet in ? .....very, very sad for the youth of the community.

I think the issue is much larger than whether children will experience stress. That ice rink is aRead More local institution, dating back at least to when Fashion Island was there. It's terrible for communities to lose so many landmarks and connect us to the past.
