One person suffered major injuries when a car struck a tree off of U.S. Highway 101 in Menlo Park Sunday Morning, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The crash was reported on northbound Highway 101 near the Willow Road off-ramp at about 10:30 a.m., Officer James Evans said.

A Honda sedan left the roadway and crashed into a tree on the right shoulder and overturned on its roof, Evans said. The driver suffered major injuries, he said. "Fire" and "smoke everywhere" were reported at 10:33.

Traffic was impacted on 101, connector ramps and surface streets.

The sigalert was canceled around 11:30.
