Does This Man Look Familiar? Help Sought In Identifying San Mateo Robbery Suspect

Police released a suspect composite sketch Tuesday of a man who robbed a local business nearly two months ago.

San Mateo police asked for the public's help Tuesday in locating a man suspected of robbing a downtown business at gunpoint in April.

According to police, the suspect entered a business in the 200 block of South San Mateo Drive at about 3 p.m. on April 28 and robbed a store associate at gunpoint.

The man got away, and police have been working on getting more information on him in the hopes of finding out his identity.

"Detectives and Officers from SMPD have done extensive area canvassing and proactive enforcement operations over the past few weeks, but despite best efforts, are still trying to identify the suspect in this case," Tuesday's police statement said.  "SMPD is asking for the community’s assistance in identifying this suspect."

They have released a sketch, which is attached to this report.

Police described the suspect as a black man approximately 50 to 60 years old who is 6 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 275 pounds. He was seen wearing a yellow T-shirt, an unknown type of pants and blue hospital shoe covers.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to contact San Mateo police Detective Amanda Von Glahn at 650-522-7665 or by email at avonglahn@cityofsanmateo.org.
