Updated: Dead Body Found at Miramar Beach

The body is the third one found along the San Mateo County coastline in 12 days.

Updated 12:02 p.m. with more details from the Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a dead body that washed ashore on Miramar Beach around 9:30 a.m., according to a Sheriff's spokeswoman.

A tourist at a nearby hotel notified officials that there was a body floating along the surfline in front of Miramar Beach Inn and Landis Shores Oceanfront Inn.

The dead man is believed to be in his mid-30s and there were no obvious signs of cause of death, according to Det. Rebecca Rosenblatt.

Jen Carroll, a Miramar resident, saw the body on the beach at 9:35 a.m. from her car driving her son to preschool.

"I saw something floating, and it looked like it was a body. I couldn't believe what I saw at first. But it really was a man floating lifeless in the water dressed in clothes," she said.

Hector Morales, a bartender at Miramar Beach restaurant, said he saw about five patrol cars near the restaurant around 9:55 a.m.

“They were wrapping the body and putting it in a ranger truck,” he told Patch.

According to Miramar resident Steve Meneely, before the body was found, a friend walking his dogs along the Miramar beachfront saw a man covered in blood sitting by himself down from where the dead body was found. When asked if he needed help, the man reacted very "agitated" and "rude" and told the dog walker that he better move away. It's unclear at this time if this was the victim or someone else involved.

The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office is working with the Coroner's office to learn his identity and notify his family.

Patch will follow up with details as they become available.

This is the third dead body that has been found on a San Mateo County coast beach in 12 days.

The body of Pacifica resident Eric Daniel Lower, 44, was found on Monday at Pillar Point Harbor.

The body of missing 16-year-old Cathy Qiu was found on San Gregorio Beach on Oct. 21.

This must be serious, but a "dead body"? Have a slew of live bodies washed ashore?

How is there not more being reported on this. I live in HMB and didn't even hear about the first two bodies until I saw a short 20sec news clip that a body had been found on Mirimar Beach and then looked it up online. Seems Kinda Strange????

Patch has been covering these stories since the first body was found in San Gregorio on Oct. 21. All three deaths appear to be unrelated. We now know the identity of the Miramar man: http://patch.com/A-zp2d
