Crime Blotter, July 15-21: Oil Spill, Hit and Run, Threats Reported

The following information was supplied by the San Mateo Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Friday

6:55 a.m. - Suspicious Person - Someone reported seeing an unshaven man, possibly in his 20s, crouched in a some bushes near Ninth Avenue and South B Street.

12:11 p.m. - Domestic Violence - A man allegedly punched his brother and held him up against a wall on the first block of McLellan Avenue.

1:01 p.m. - Suspicious Circumstances - A woman reported finding a strange letter on her car on the 100 block of Laurie Meadows Drive.

6:16 p.m. - Disturbance - A man called police from the 1700 block of Church Avenue reporting he had tried to wrench a .22 rifle from a stranger.

9:47 p.m. - Hit-and-Run/ Property Damage - Two people in a dark four-door sedan were seen hitting another car, losing a bumper and then fleeing the scene near Glendra and Cherrywood drives.

 

Saturday

3:55 p.m. - Theft - Someone reported a stolen cell phone on the 1000 block of South Railroad Avenue, suggesting the police use the device's GPS tracking system to locate the thief.

7:03 p.m. - Abuse / Arrest - Police arrested an individual on the 700 block of Tilton Avenue on charges of sexual abuse.

9:22 p.m. - Possible Overdose - A woman was reportedly found passed out and unresponsive in a bathroom on the 1900 block of Bridgepoint Court.

11:03 p.m. - Fire - A grass fire was reported at the local waste treatment plant near the intersection of East Third Avenue and Detroit Drive.

 

Sunday

7:06 p.m. - Auto Burglary - An unknown person entered a car on the 200 block of Laurie Meadows Drive, stole a purse and then used the person's credit cards to make fraudulent purchases.

3:04 p.m. - Hit-and Run / Property Damage - Someone driving a Toyota Prius was seen hitting another car in the parking lot of a dog park on the 1900 block of J Hart Clinton Drive, then fleeing the scene.

6 p.m. - Theft - A couple ordered food then fled before paying the bill at a restaurant on the 200 block of South B Street. The woman was reported to be wearing a colorful shirt.

9:30 p.m. - Domestic Disturbance - A woman called police for assistance making her husband leave after a loud verbal argument on the 700 block of Linda Court.

 

Monday

12:04 a.m. - Disturbance - Four kids were making noise in a park playground on the 3100 block of Los Padros.

9:44 a.m. - Suspicious Circumtances - A woman on the 600 block of South Idaho Street called police to report that someone may have entered her backyard the night before.

1:39 p.m. - Traffic Issue - A broken down car was blocking the right lane near El Camino Real and 20th Avenue.

8:56 p.m. - Accident / Minor Injury - Two drivers got into an accident near the intersection of East Poplar Avenue and North San Mateo drive. One was complaining of pain, but refused medical attention.

10:09 p.m. - Threats - A man had been reportedly harassing his ex-wife on the 1600 block of Shoreview Avenue and making threats against her, in violation of a restraining order.

11:15 p.m. - Suspicious Circumstances - Someone spotted group of roughly six kids trying to climb onto the roof of a building on the 1200 block of West Hillsdale Boulevard.

 

Tuesday

10:04 a.m. - Fraud - An unknown suspect passed a counterfeit $100 bill at a business on the 700 block of Polhemus Road.

12:07 p.m. - Disturbance - A security guard on the 200 block of West 39th Avenue wanted to make a citizen's arrest of a suspect who was trying to sell oxycotin.

3:46 p.m. - Disturbance - Four men were reportedly drinking alcohol in a four-door silver sedan parked on a lawn on the 1500 block of Marina Court.

11:33 p.m. - Disturbance - A man, roughly 24 years old, was reported to be stumbling around in a parking lot on the 100 block of Hillsdale Mall after getting into an argument with someone at the Macaroni Grill.

 

Wednesday

5:55 a.m. - Domestic Disturbance - A woman called police from the first block of North Claremont Street to report that her ex-husband was causing a problem.

11:29 a.m. - Theft - A man called police after a clerk at a Safeway on the 800 block of North Delware Street charged his debit card for products he didn't buy, or leave the store with. The man told police he complained to the worker and was subsequently kicked out.

12:25 p.m. - Citizen Assist - A father broke the window to his white Ford Explorer on the 2100 block of Kehoe Avenue after he accidentally locked his child in his car.

5:33 p.m. - Harassment - The janitor in a building on the first block of Bovet Boulevard was reported to have been harassing another employee for the past few months.

5:42 p.m. - Harassment - A woman called police to report that a group of three men, in their early 20s, were harassing her and following her as she walked to her car in a parking lot on the 300 block of South Ellsworth Avenue.

5:47 p.m. - Suspicious Circumstances - A woman told police that a man was taking pictures of her house and her car on the 3700 block of Bransons Drive.

9:58 p.m. - Domestic Violence - A woman's husband was reportedly threatening to hit her, and had been violent in the past, on the 1700 block of Gum Street.

 

Thursday

1:24 p.m. - Property Destruction - A man wanted to turn in two handguns and a rifle to police that belonged to his father.

2:58 p[.m. - Hit-and-run / Property Damage - A driver hit a parked Nissan Altima near the intersection of Second Avenue and El Camino Real, caused enough damage to render the car not drivable and then fled the scene. The suspect was not seen.

6:46 p.m. - Fight - Two woman in their early 20s, one of whom was pregnant, got into a fight on the 700 block of Monte Diablo Avenue.

6:55 p.m. - Civil Issue - A resident reported that his / her neighbor on the 600 block of Joanne Drive had been harassing the resident's dog and then sprayed it with a garden hose on Thursday.

9:42 p.m. - Possible Hazardous Materials - An unknown person spilled a large amount of oil in a parking / carport area on the 1300 block of Rogell Avenue and also left behind two containers carrying an unknown substance.
