Crime Blotter: Counterfeit Bill Passed, Home Burglarized, Suspect Steals Beer

The following excerpts are supplied by the San Mateo Police Department's daily call log. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Friday, June 24

1:04 p.m. - Fraud - An unknown suspect tried to open an account on the 300 block of Hillsdale Mall with a fake ID.

1:44 p.m. - Threats - An unknown suspect threatened to break all of someone's windows on the first block of 37th Avenue.

2:45 p.m. - Hit-and-Run - Someone watched a driver hit two trees on Alameda de Las Pulgas and then flee the scene.

5:09 p.m. - Annoying Phone Calls - Someone on the 100 block of West Hillsdale Boulevard reported getting several harassing text messages and phone calls.

5:40 p.m. - Theft - Someone reported the theft of a wallet from the first block of North Amphlett Boulevard.

 

Saturday, June 25

8:41 a.m. - Suspicious Car - Two people were seen sleeping in a black Ford Explorer on the 3500 block of Hacienda Street.

1:31 p.m. - Suspicious Persons - Two men were going door-to-door on the 700 block of East 16th Avenue trying to sell people fire panels.

4 p.m. - Stolen Car - An unknown suspect stole a black 1996 Honda from the 700 block of South Delaware Street.

4:39 p.m. - Civil Issue - Someone called police after allegedly getting the wrong change from a business near the intersection of Indian Avenue and North Humboldt Street.

10:47 p.m. - Domestic Violence - A man grabbed his girlfriend by the hair while in a house on the 800 block of North Humboldt Street. A relative of the woman then called police.

 

Sunday, June 26

12:04 a.m. - Disturbance / Fight - Six people were seen fighting on the 100 block of East 25th Avenue.

2:45 p.m. - Disturbance - A man on the 4100 block of Branson Drive called police to report that his sons were fighting.

4:44 p.m. - Citizen Assist - A man on the 100 block of 28th Avenue found a bone while he was doing yard work. It did not appear to be human.

6:47 p.m. - Possible DUI - Someone saw a driver in a green minivan swerving on the 400 block of East Hillsdale Court. At one point, the driver swerved into oncoming traffic and then pulled back into the proper lane.

9:01 p.m. - Battery - A Spanish-speaking man on the 100 block of South San Mateo Drive reported that an unknown suspect threw water on him the day before.

10:06 p.m. - Residential Burglary - An unknown suspect broke into a home on the 2800 block of Monterey Street and stole several items.

 

Monday, June 27

8:41 a.m. - Accident - Medics took someone to the hospital after the person fell while painting a house on the first block of Ottawa Street.

8:53 a.m. - Stolen Car - An unknown suspect stole a black 2001 Acura MDX from the 300 block of Georgetown Avenue.

2:04 p.m. - Fraud - A woman on the 200 block of North Idaho Street reported that an unknown suspect was pulling money from her bank account.

6:25 p.m. - Fraud - A man on the 100 block of Ontario Street reported that his grandmother may have been defrauded by an unknown suspect. 

 

Tuesday, June 28

11:44 a.m. - Fraud - A business on the 1300 block of West Hillsdale Boulevard received a counterfeit bill.

11:56 a.m. - Hit-and-Run - An unknown suspect hit a parked car in a parking garage on the 400 block of South San Mateo Drive and fled. 

3:06 p.m. - Theft - An unknown suspect grabbed some beer from a store on the 600 block of Concar Drive and fled. A worker called police while chasing the thief toward the Hayward Park train station.

6:49 p.m. - Disturbance - A security guard on the 200 block of East Third Avenue called police for assistance dealing with a drunken man.

8:53 p.m. - Disturbance - Someone called police from the 1500 block of South Claremont Street to report that a group of subjects were drinking and being loud.

 

Wednesday, June 29

9:28 a.m. - Lost Property - Someone lost a wallet on a soccer field.

10:07 a.m. - Theft - An unknown suspect stole two pairs of Prada sunglasses from a mother and her daughter while they were on the 200 block of Hillsdale Mall.

5:31 p.m. - Suspicious Circumstances - A woman called police after she heard her car alarm trigger on the 1100 block of Tanglewood Way. 

7:31 p.m. - Theft - An employee from a store on the 100 block of Hillsdale Mall called police to report that a security guard was fighting with a shoplifter. Both of them were allegedly on the ground during the phone call.

10:49 p.m. - Disturbance - A man walking on the 800 block of Bermuda Drive was reportedly yelling at a woman as she passed by.

11:15 p.m. - Fraud - An unknown suspect tried to pay at a restaurant on the 500 block of East Third Avenue with a counterfeit $50 bill.

 

Thursday, June 30

9:30 a.m. - Vehicle Burglary - An unknown suspect vandalized a car and stole its seats.

5:05 p.m. - Disturbance - A landlord and a tenant on the 700 block of Highland Avenue got into an argument and the landlord pushed the tenant.

5:29 p.m. - Disorderly Conduct - Someone called police from the 800 block of Woodside Way to report that another person, who was drunk, was insisting on driving home.

11:26 p.m. - Overdose - Fire and medics responded to the 500 block of South Idaho Street after getting reports that a 52-year-old man had overdosed on an unknown type of medication.
