Carport Threats, Driver Rams Security Gate

Excerpts from the San Mateo Police Department's daily call log.

Friday, May 6

1:34 a.m. - Reckless Driving - A man driving a white "sporty" type car drove through a security gate on the 600 block of Laurel Drive, broke it and was sitting in the vehicle after it happened.

8:32 a.m. - Suspicious Circumstances - Police confiscated a pellet rifle from a man in his 40s who reportedly shot another guy who was riding his bicycle near Monte Diablo Avenue and North Fremont.

12:32 p.m. - Drunk in Public - A man was passed out, possibly from drinking too much, near a grassy area next to a playground on the 700 block of Monte Diablo Avenue.

6:09 p.m. - Suspicious Person - A man was sleeping in some bushes near an underground parking lot on the 200 block of Franklin Parkway.

Saturday, May 7

12:36 a.m. - Reckless Driving / Possible DUI - Someone driving was driving a silver Acura, with front end damage, the wrong way on the Edgewater Overpass near the 200 block of Winward Way.

11:34 a.m. - Domestic Violence - A woman called police from the 600 block of Second Avenue to report that her daughter was beating her up.

11:34 a.m. - Theft - Two unknown suspects tried to steal mail from a mail carrier on the 1500 block of Oak Street, possibly to attempt identity theft. 

9:01 p.m. - Hit-and-Run - Someone driving a silver or blue Toyota hit another car and fled the scene near the intersection of Monte Diablo Avenue and North Railroad.

10:56 p.m. - Domestic Dispute - A couple got into a verbal dispute on the 1900 block of El Camino Real that may have started when the alarm on their black Mercedes was triggered.

Sunday, May 8

2:06 a.m. - Reckless Driving - Some men were refusing to leave a bar on the 500 block of South Norfolk Street while the bartender was trying to close.

1:13 p.m. - Found Property - Someone living near the intersection of Hillbarn Court and 43rd Avenue found about five bags of clothing that may have been dumped after a car burglary.

1:35 p.m. - Suspicious Person - A man wearing a red hood was going door-to-door on the 600 block of Ventura Avenue asking for donations.

1:50 p.m. - Vandalism / Possible Assault - Someone shot a BB gun at a person driving a car and hit it several times. It occurred near East Fourth Avenue and Delaware Street. Damage to the windshield and driver's side was reported.

8:34 p.m. - Robbery - An unknown suspect stole a wallet from someone in a parking garage on the 300 block of Second Avenue.

9:33 p.m. - Suspicious Circumstances - A woman found profanity and threats that someone wrote with chalk in her carport and fence on the 800 block of South Grant Street.

10:33 p.m. - Domestic Disturbance - Someone heard a loud argument in the background between a brother and sister on the 1700 Kehoe Avenue. The brother was reportedly hitting his sister.

Monday, May 9

12:13 a.m. - Assault - A man in an emergency room on the 300 block of Seventh Avenue was reportedly assaulted by unknown suspects.

1:29 a.m. - Burglary - An unknown suspect broke into a home on the 400 block of Terrace Way and stole jewelry. The homeowner suspected a neighbor.

5:29 p.m. - Hit-and-Run - Someone driving a beige truck on the 400 block of West 25th Avenue opened his door. Someone then drove by and hit it and fled.

6:35 p.m. - Disturbance - Three people were drinking on the baseball bleachers of a field on the first block of East Fifth Avenue.

11:04 p.m. - Disorderly Conduct - A man wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt was stumbling in the roadway near the intersection of Second Avenue and South El Camino Real.

Tuesday, May 10

5:57 a.m. - Brandishing Weapon - Two people got into an argument on the 100 block of north El Camino Real and one of the people pulled a knife.

9:49 a.m. - Stolen Motorcycle - A unknown suspect stole a blue Harley Davidson with white flames from the 1300 block of West Hillsdale Boulevard.

5:34 p.m. - Brandishing Weapon - Three men wielding handguns were at Ted's Village Pharmacy on the first block of West 25th Avenue. They fled in grey Acura. 

10:19 p.m. - Disturbance / Fight - Some people got into a fight on the 1600 block of El Camino Real and had weapons. No major injuries occurred and no one was arrested.

Wednesday, May 11

2:35 p.m. - Theft - Four women grabbed some diapers in Target on the 2200 block of Bridgepointe Parkway and walked out of the store. Security told police they were going to arrest the women, but dispatchers lost the connection.

5:24 p.m. - Disturbance - A woman told police that an unknown suspect kicked her car on the 300 block of Villa.

7:38 p.m. - Disturbance - There was a loud man in a barbecue area on the 200 block of 36th Avenue.

7:50 p.m. - Suspicious Circumstances - Some juveniles told their parents they saw a woman driving a white car on the 700 block of Monte Diablo Avenue, possibly with a gun in her hand, or maybe a cell phone.

Thursday, May 12

12:24 p.m. - Domestic Disturbance - A man and woman were yelling at each other with their front door open on the 300 block of Highland Avenue.

2:55 p.m. - Disturbance - A first grade student brought a toy gun to school on the 1600 block of Eisenhower Street.

7:06 p.m. - Car Burglary - An unknown suspect broke into a Nissan Xterra on the 200 block of Baldwin Avenue. It's unknown if the person stole anything.

7:50 p.m. - Battery - A man touched a woman in an elevator on the 1700 block of West Hillsdale Boulevard and told her "how pretty she was."
