Body of Stab Victim Found on E. Third in San Mateo

A person was found stabbed to death in the area of on E. Third Avenue in San Mateo on Monday afternoon, police said.

Officers say they responded to the storage facility about 1:30 p.m. and found the body. The victim has not been identified.

The San Mateo Police Department is treating the case as a homicide. In a statement, San Mateo police said that "detectives have determined that this crime appears to be an isolated incident and that this does not appear to be a random act."

San Mateo police spokesman Sgt. Dave Norris told Patch that the victim is a middle-aged man who suffered at least one stab wound. He said police have talked to a number of people at the scene.

All American Self Storage is located at 2000 E. Third Ave. (also known as J. Hart Clinton Drive) near Detroit Avenue. Police have cordoned off the area and are asking people to steer clear of the area while the homicide investigation is underway.

This is the San Mateo's first homicide of the year.
