Recognize This Man? Police Seek Subway Sandwich Shop Robber

Police say the man held up a clerk at a local sandwich stop on Monday night, getting away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Belmont police have released surveillance images of a man, taken as he held up a local Subway restaurant, in hopes that someone may recognize the bandit.

The incident happened around 8:45 p.m. Monday, at the Subway restaurant located in the 1600 block of El Camino Real, according to Belmont Police Captain Patrick Halleran.

The captain says a man entered the shop, pointed a black handgun at an employee and demanded money.

"The employee handed over an undetermined amount of cash and the suspect fled the store, running southbound on the west sidewalk of El Camino," Halleran said.  "No other suspects or a suspect vehicle were seen."

The employee-- who was the only person in the restaurant at the time-- was not hurt, according to Halleran.

Police ask that if you recognize the suspect, call Belmont Police at 650-595-7400 or the Belmont Police Crime Tip Line at 650-598-3000.
