Authorities on Sunday safely removed a homemade CO'2 cartridge discovered at Highlands Elementary School.
The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office bomb squad responded Sunday morning to the basketball courts at the school, located at 2320 Newport St. in the San Mateo Highlands area, and found the CO'2 cartridge with a wick, according to emergency officials.
Officials successfully removed the homemade device and no injuries were reported.
The public is urged to be diligent and report and suspicious objects or packages to their local authorities, especially around the Fourth of July.
