Aragon High Coach Pleads Not Guilty to Sexually Assaulting Student

A preliminary hearing for Joshua Tatro, 25, was scheduled for September.

The  coach  for allegedly touching a female student inappropriately has pleaded not guilty to charges in San Mateo County Superior Court.

Joshua Tatro June 1, the same day he was taken into custody for the alleged crime, and pleaded not guilty at his felony arraignment Thursday, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office.

Tatro, 25, was arrested following a weeks-long investigation into the incident, in which authorities believe Tatro, who has worked as a water polo/swim coach at Aragon High School for the past year, had "inappropriate sexual contact" with a 17-year-old female student.

The student said that during the past year, Tatro had "touched her inappropriately, according to San Mateo police.

Prosecutors say Tatro's relationship with the student, a water polo player, involved repeated "sexual activity and digital penetration," but not sexual intercourse.

There were also "numerous" cell phone exchanges of pictures of private body parts, according to prosecutors.

The incident was first reported to school officials, who immediately contacted the San Mateo Police Department.

Tatro is due to appear back in court on Sept. 6 for his preliminary hearing, and on Aug. 9 for his superior court review conference.

I see that I meant to type "...that connect us to the past," but I accidentally typedRead More "...and connect us to the past." I think my meaning came through, though. Yes, the world does not need another national chain retail store or restaurant, which is surely what they're planning to put in there.

Yes Bren, agree with you....good point.....really what it seems to come down to is money vs. theRead More good of the community and richness of traditions. And all despite the Master Plan for that site in San Mateo that seems to require an ice skating rink or similar recreational facility AT THAT SITE, and all despite the fact the Ice Chalet would like to continue operations there. The Developer has made it difficult to impossible for any ice rink to operate there (tricky it seems)....so they can get a cookie cutter retail outlet in ? .....very, very sad for the youth of the community.

I think the issue is much larger than whether children will experience stress. That ice rink is aRead More local institution, dating back at least to when Fashion Island was there. It's terrible for communities to lose so many landmarks and connect us to the past.

Dear Ari, Thank you for your service to our community. It's wonderful that you are already making aRead More difference.
