Man accused of molesting girls

A man is being prosecuted by the San Mateo County District Attorney's Of-fice for allegedly molesting two young girls who attended a San Mateo day care center, a prosecutor said yesterday. Oscar Gilberto Patino, 56, is the husband of a day care provider in San Mateo, whose center was operated at a home, according to the district attorney's office. Two girls reported to police in July that they were molested by Patino in July 2009. The girls were 7 and 9 at the time of the alleged crimes, according to the DA's office.

After an investigation by San Mateo police, Patino was arrested on Aug. 21. He was charged with 11 counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a child.

Deputy District Attorney Al Serrato said yesterday he is unsure if the day care center is still open. Patino is being held without bail.
