Editor's Note: The following was submitted to San Mateo Patch by Angela Michelle, whose art will be on display in San Mateo in November.

My name is Angela Michelle, I’m a Bay Area native, and Freelance Photographer. I will be displaying my first Abstract Fine Art Print Collection, titled, "Reincarnation," in San Mateo in 2 weeks, and I would like to spread the news!

This art show will be very unique, unlike what most have seen! The photographs for this show, where taken from a rundown, warped shed, and the sides of vandalized trucks, in an industrial area in the East Bay. This abstract work creates art from what some would see as garbage or decay. In the prints, you will find layers of paint, graffiti, cracked, and warped wood. These qualities allowed me to capture interesting textures and shapes. Every person who looks at these pieces, discover their own hidden images, experience different emotions, and make unique connections. In addition to the fine art prints, there will be calendars available featuring all of the abstract pieces from the show.

The Opening Reception will be held,

Saturday, November 5th, 12-4pm, at

3 Bees Coffee House
224 East 3rd Ave
San Mateo, Ca 94401

Where you can enjoy lots of yummy snacks and café drinks!

If you can’t make the opening, I will also hold a Closing Reception on Sunday, November 27th, 12-4pm.

Just a short thought to get the word out quickly about anything in your neighborhood.
Share something with your neighbors. Write a new post... What's up? Make an announcement, speak your mind, or sell something

I see that I meant to type "...that connect us to the past," but I accidentally typedRead More "...and connect us to the past." I think my meaning came through, though. Yes, the world does not need another national chain retail store or restaurant, which is surely what they're planning to put in there.

Yes Bren, agree with you....good point.....really what it seems to come down to is money vs. theRead More good of the community and richness of traditions. And all despite the Master Plan for that site in San Mateo that seems to require an ice skating rink or similar recreational facility AT THAT SITE, and all despite the fact the Ice Chalet would like to continue operations there. The Developer has made it difficult to impossible for any ice rink to operate there (tricky it seems)....so they can get a cookie cutter retail outlet in ? .....very, very sad for the youth of the community.

I think the issue is much larger than whether children will experience stress. That ice rink is aRead More local institution, dating back at least to when Fashion Island was there. It's terrible for communities to lose so many landmarks and connect us to the past.
